Caroline Bergvall was in town to do a KSW reading and Transparency Machine this weekend. In performance she uses her voice, which is beautiful, and her accent against the physicality of speech -- the sound of the words and the letters ---and the conflation of meaning to build um an aural poetry unlike anything I"ve ever heard. I do wish more poets would consider sound in that way. Not as a musician but as a body.
