weekend

slept too much. felt fluish. tried to renew car insurance -- forgot about bc's air care program. have to get the air care re-approved and try again next week. don't write much poetry anymore and seem to have problems fully engaging w/ it when i do. the work thing really takes it out of me, stamina-wise. the brain is so tired at the end of the day. still this existential angst. too old to feel like such a teenager. went to our new favourite used bookstore - Pulp Fiction on Main Street. Bought _Cities and the Wealth of Nations_ by Jane Jacobs. Have been meaning to look at her work. Want to track down the new one - forget what it's called. this copy has been signed by "Bart" in childish scrawl. under the price, the bookstore person noted: signed by Bart! also bought _women_, a gorgeous hardcover book of photography by annie leibovitz with an essay by susan sontag. i want to pour over the pictures and draw them. all i feel like doing these days is drawing and making things. which is ridiculous because i have no natural aptitude to do so -- i just really enjoy it. jonathon and i had dinner at Nirvana last nite, a fantastic Indian restaurant on Main as well. the butter chicken is to die for and let it be noted that i shall request it as a last meal, when the time comes. later jc watched some shitty action movie while i read the Globe. today was laundry and groceries, wrapped up some late birthday gifts for the mail, worked a little on the Pop Culture T-Shirt Quilt project. Sunday nites my creativity and motivation peak, which is completely counterproductive because i stay up late frittering away in my office, mucking with collage and whatnot, starting the work-week bleary eyed and foggy. which gets worse till friday when i collapse, sleep about 24 hours over the course of the weekend, and begin anew. never said i wasn't a brilliant self-saboteur. listening to Feist's Let It Die. buy it. then JC's dad called at dinnertime to tell him his grandmother had passed away this afternoon. between us we've had so much death and sickness in our families over the past two and a half years that we're both a little heartsick, all the time.
